PRESERVATION OF BREVARD CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Note: “The chapel stands in stable condition and is well within the limits of preservation versus demolition.” This historical site, built in the 1870s, is significant for its role in the African American Methodist community. The Catawba Valley District of the United Methodist Church will provide funding to transform the site into a living memorial to honor African American heritage, which aligns with the mission of the Oaklawn History Center to promote historical education. ~ Lake Norman Publications, March 12, 2025; by Michelle T.
